Fioricet

How Fioricet Works?

Fioricet is one of those medicines which is use to treat the headaches. It is the drug which blocks the impulses which goes to the brain with in pain. The reason for the blockage of impulses o the brain is that brain is the organ in the body which felts the pain. If the brain doesn’t works properly pain will not felt by the patient whatever the type of injury. The working of fioricet is to block the impulses that which ultimately made brain in the same position as it was before the injury it stops the muscles relaxation. With such restriction of impulses less pain will be felt by the patient.

It is the drug which is use to treat the muscle injuries which are related to different body parts such as neck head and shoulders. These drug main ingredients are:

Ingredients:

  • Acetaminophen
  • Caffeine
  • And a barbiturate

Acetaminophen is the ingredient which is use for pain relieving and for the reduction of fever. Caffeine is the ingredient which has the ability to shrink the blood vessels by doing so it is capable of pain reduction. With the help of caffeine high blood flow will be reduced and it will result in fewer headaches.

Barbiturate is present in the drug in order to relax the muscles. It with the muscles relaxation helps to reduce the pain and fever.

Fioricet is the drug which can only be consumed on doctor’s prescription. Only doctor is the person who is able to select the quantity of dosage. The dosage of fioricet is to take with the glass of water. if because of any reason the dose is missed no one try to take the missed dose with the second dose at the second doe timings one should try to makeup for the missed dose if not then simply go to the next dose.

Side effects of the drug:

If the side effects of these drugs appear a patient must go and take the doctors advice because these side effects may be too long.

Yellowing of skin and eye

Severe fatigue
Weak breathing
Blood problems

  • Rash or itching
  • Feeling of intoxication
  • Headache
  • Constipation

Precautions

In using these drugs the patients must not take the sleeping pills sedatives antihistamines and tranquilizers. this is because of the reason that the drug is capable of causing the dizziness and drowsiness beside this avoidance the patient must avoid the use of alcohol and its items because of the use of alcohol it increases the dizziness which will cause the severe accident so in using these drugs it is must that the patient doesn’t work on the heavy machinery and the work which needs full attention.

The prescribed dosage of this drug is not more then 4000mg in a day.
The drug fioricet may interact with other drugs so it is necessary to tell the doctor about the drug usage at the time of taking fioricet, especially if the patient is taking MAO inhibitors which includes:

  • Monoamine Oxidizer Inhibitors (MAOI)
  • Isocarboxazid (Marplan)
  • Phenelzine (Nardil)
  • Tranylcypromine (Parnate)

If the patient used this drug in the past two weeks he or she must not take the fioricet they should take fioricet at the time when the previous drug effects have been reduced.
