Loestrin
Loestrin is a birth control medicine prepared by Parke Davis. It has two types of hormones, estrogen and progestin. Proper intake of these hormones helps in preventing pregnancy. Loestrin can also be used to curse some other feminine disorders. On general guideline for Loestrin is that the patient should be very firm on the prescription given by the physician and should not deviate from it.
Dosage:
As a general rule, Loestrin is prescribed to be taken one pill daily. For more effective results, the dosage should be almost exactly 24 hours apart. If one dose is missed, the next dose should be taken as soon as possible. If more then one doses are missed, the physician should be consulted.
Precautions:
During the course of medication, if the patient is under-going any surgery or will be on a long bed-rest, the physician should be informed, as there might be special arrangement to be made.
Women, who are more open to heart disease, and those who are suspected to be pregnant are not advised to take this medicine. Loestrin is extracted through breast milk, therefore, new mother who are taking it, shall not breast feed their babies, as this could be severely dangerous for them. Also women, who can face allergy to any of its ingredients, should also avoid this medicine.
It is advised that during the course, the physicians shall be visited regularly. For the reason that if there are any unusual signs appearing or any changed circumstance can come under notice well before time.
Side Effects of using Loestrin
Nausea, Bleeding between menstrual periods, weight change, vomiting are some common side-effects that are seen while using this Loestrin. In some cases, dark skin patches might appear on face, if it happens so, protection from direct sunlight should be done. In case of any of the stated or unstated side effects, physicians should be consulted on first priority, so that the medication should be rescheduled accordingly.
