Nasacort
Nasacort medication is used to treat nasal irritation. It reduces nasal congestion, itching, postnasal drip, and sneezing. This medication particularly deals with treating conditions like rhinitis.
Ingredients:
The Nasacort’s main ingredient of Nasacort is Triamcinolone Acetonide USP. It is a corticosteroid with molecular weight of 434.51, and contains chemical designation of 9-Fluoro-11ß,16 á ,17,21-tetrahydroxy-pregna-1,
4-diene-3, 20-dione cyclic 16, 17-acetal with acetone (C 24 H 31 FO 6 ).
There are some other ingredients as well that include:
- Microcrystalline Cellulose
- Dextrose
- Benzalkonium Chloride
- Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium
- Polysorbate 80
- Edetate Disodium
Chemistry:
Nasacort Nasal Spray has the odorless and Thixotropic characteristics. The nasal spray has a water-based meter for its dose pump spray formulation unit. It
has a microcrystalline suspension consisting of Triamcinolone Acetonide in an aqueous solution. Nasal pump delivers 55 mcg of Triamcinolone Acetonide. Before application you need to prime the pump with five or six actuations and it needs to be primed again if you don’t use it for a long time.
Dosage:
Each 6.5 gram bottle can deliver thirty actuations while 16.5 gram bottle
can deliver around 120 actuations. After the given number of actuations from each size of Nasacort bottle, the contents become out of proportion. Therefore, it is necessary that you discard the pump after the given number of actuations has been taken. Each bottle containing 30 actuations has 3.575 mg of the main ingredient i.e. Triam-cinolone Acetonide whereas the 120 actuations bottle has 9.075 mg of the active ingredient. You should blow your nasal tract to
ensure that the passage is clear before taking the medicine meaning that the medicine could reach the intended tissue. In case the passage is not cleared properly, you need to use a nasal decongestant before applying the Nasacort. For seeing a significant result, you should wait for few days otherwise contact your doctor moreover you need to be careful when using Nasacort if you have had any injuries. Do not exceed the number of recommended doses against your doctor’s advice.
Precautions:
Discuss other medications with your doctor while using Nasacort as there may be interactions between Nasacort and other types of treatment and it may increase the chances of side effects. If you happen to miss out a dose, do not try to make it “double” dose and just move on to the next dose and forget about the missed dose.
