How Soma Works?

The muscular pains sometimes occur due to the injuries in skeletal muscles. Soma is the medication use to treat such injuries in the skeletal muscles. Its function is to inhibit the nerve signals. It prevents the flow of nerve impulses by this the sensation and pains are reduced. The main ingredient in soma is codeine which makes it possible this drug comes under the drug category of narcotic analgesic. Soma if applied with rest and physical therapy it will be more beneficial. Codeine belongs to the narcotic analgesic. It is better to take one glass of water with soma. But it is strictly avoided not to take more then 1400 mg that is 4 tablets per day.

• Extreme weakness
• Vision loss
• Blood in your vomit
• Allergic reactions
• Agitation or tremor

If these side effects occur it is necessary to take advice from doctor. These were the serious side effects.

There are some side effects which are not so serious these are:

• Insomnia
• Drowsiness or dizziness
• Faint ringing in the ears
• Nausea
• Headache
• Hiccups
• Blurred vision
• Pupils depression
• Vomiting
• Constipation

Precautions:

It is very important to consider the doctor advices in taking the drugs. There are some of the precautions which need attention before going to take the drug. That is patients who have a medical history of diseases like

• Kidney disease
• Hypothyroidism
• Blood or clotting disorder
• A head injury
• Liver disease
• Stomach or intestinal ulcer
• Urinary retention
• Enlarged prostate
• Addison's disease

Must tell his doctor before taking the drug. If some one has still such illnesses mentioned above a very small dose of soma recommend to them. Soma is not for the individuals below 12 it is strictly avoided to be taken by the pregnant women’s because of its side effects. So main thing is to take the drug on doctor’s prescription.

Drug interaction:

There are many types of drugs which may interact with soma to produce serious problems or the effects of soma will reduces the effect of other drugs taking at the same time. These drugs may be:

Antidepressants such as:

Sedatives such as:

• Phenobarbital (Solfoton, Luminal)
• Amobarbital (Amytal)

• Phenothiazines

If someone is taking the medicines like beta blocker he must inform his doctor for example:

• Acebutolol (Sectral)
• Propranolol (Inderal)
• Atenolol (Tenormin)
• Metoprolol (Lopressor)
• Carteolol (Cartrol)

Within the use of drug it is important to take the dose at time if someone failed to take the dose at time he is advise to take the second dose not two doses at the same time.
