Chemistry of Sonata:
Sonata is characterized as a nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic drug which is derived from the Pyrazolopyrimidine category. The chemical name for Zaleplon is
N-[3-(3-cyanopyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-yl)phenyl]-N-ethylacetamide. This drug has white or off-white colored powder form almost insoluble in water but partially soluble in alcohol. The main ingredient of Sonata is Zaleplon.
Dosage of Sonata:
The dosage of Sonata for a person is based upon the individual information which a doctor collects from patient who is suffering insomnia. From the collected information doctor suggests the dosage quantity and its frequency to the patient. Normally doctors make the assessment of one’s daily routine foods, age, life activities, smoking habits or nature of meal taken or any other disease patient is suffering etc. Dosage ranges from 5 mg and10 mg which is normally effective but is some cases 20 mg dose is also suggested but in normal circumstances it is considered too risky. While seeking doctor’s advice you must inform him whether you are taking some other medications like Imipramine and Amitriptyline also you should inform your doctor if you are using Rifamycin antibiotics like Rifampin and Rifabutin, or any ulcer medication such as Cimetidine, medications such as sedatives or tranquilizers and other psychiatric medications such as Thioridazine. Basic Effect of Sonata
Sonata works with the GABA receptors in the human brain which are responsible for elevating or reducing brain activity hence by controlling or influencing them through drugs, sleep patterns and durations may be controlled or improved. When Sonata is used, the chemical GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) is
released into the brain, which automatically slows down brain GABA receptor’s activity, resulting the active regions of the brain to decrease steadily in their activity bringing a sleep to patient alongside muscle relaxation enabling him to
sleep for longer periods. It is advised to take at least 4 hours sleep after taking Sonata.
Side Effects of Sonata
In order to prevent its side effects, one must follow instructions carefully. Moreover, this drug should not be used for a long period as user may become its addict. While taking doses of Sonata you must avoid taking alcoholic beverages. Women who are breast feeding their children should not take Sonata as it may end up in the child’s bloodstream. Further, this drug must be kept in safe place and out of reach of children.
